Questions

The things families ask us most. For the long version — the game, the ladders, what a grade unlocks — see how it works.

Why should our class keep fundraising after reaching 100%?
Reaching 100% unlocks your class’s second celebration — but there are still two more experiences to unlock at 150% and 200%, each one bigger than the last.

Every extra dollar also supports the whole school. Some classes have larger networks or a greater capacity to give, and that support strengthens opportunities for everyone while easing the pressure on the PTA’s $200,000 annual goal. See how the ladders work →
Does company matching count toward my class’s goal?
Only gifts given here count toward your class goal — everything else still helps the school. That applies to class, grade and school goals alike, for this year’s fundraiser.
  • If your employer lets you give through this page, you’ll get an email receipt you can submit for their matching gift — that original donation still counts toward your class goal, and the matching portion will not.
  • If you gave (or give) through your own company’s giving portal, the money still reaches Spicewood Elementary — but neither the original donation nor the employer match counts toward your child’s classroom goal.
Again: only donations made through the Keep Spicewood Strong page during the fundraiser are counted. We’re sorry — this was a scenario our team did not account for, and we’re working to make it better next year. See how to request a match from your employer.
What are badges and trophies?
Things a class did, rather than money it raised. Badges are for everyone — any class that does the thing earns one, with no limit and no race. Trophies are real objects and there is only one of each, so they go to firsts, tops and stand-out moments, and they are handed over physically as well as appearing in the class’s case online. See the trophy case →
Where can I learn more about the badges and trophies classes can earn?
Every one of them is listed — what the trophy actually is, and what a class has to do to take it. See what every trophy and badge takes →
What can a class unlock?
Celebrations — parties, visitors and spectacles a class chooses from as it passes each rung of its goal. They are kept separately from badges and trophies, and no class has to choose between them. See every experience →
Where does my money actually go?
To Spicewood students, teachers and staff — field trips, clubs, classroom supplies, online subscriptions and direct support for every grade. See where it goes →
I have more than one child at Spicewood.
Give to each child’s class separately, so every one of them moves its own goal. Check in on each of their class pages too, to stay up to date. Use the Classes menu at the top of any page to find each one.
When does the fundraiser end?
It runs September 14–26.
Is Spicewood PTA a nonprofit?
Yes — Spicewood PTA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3).
